 Tessa Marie Dalmon Howden Sleeping Beauty, Tessa Howden, was brutally murdered after suffering a nightmare sex ordeal at the hands of a silent killer. Tessa was 19 and was murdered in her bedroom by an intruder who is now serving a life sentence.

 Robert Vaughan and Michelle Sadler On the morning of Sunday 5th February 1984 a woman walking her dog on open grassland near Southwark Bridge in London noticed something strange in the bucket of a small dumper truck parked nearby. It was quickly established that the bodies were those of Robert Vaughan and his fiancee Michelle Sadler. They were both 17-years-old. Michelle had been sexually assaulted and strangled and Robert's throat had been cut. Their killer was sentenced to life in prison in November 1984.

 Helen McCourt Helen McCourt (29 July 1965 – c. 9 February 1988) was a 22-year-old insurance clerk from Lancashire (now Merseyside), England, who disappeared on 9 February 1988 in the town of Billinge, Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, shortly after getting off a bus less than five hundred yards from her home. Her body has never been found. Ian Simms, a local pub landlord, was subsequently charged with and convicted of her murder. The case is a rare example where a murder conviction has been obtained without the presence of a body, and was one of the first in the UK to use DNA fingerprinting.

 Joanna Croxton Johanna Croxton's body was found on 7 December 2995 at her home in Hastings, East Sussex. Her abusive husband was convicted of her murder and given a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years and two months.

 Rikki Neave Rikki was last seen leaving his home on the Welland estate in Peterborough to go to school on 28 November 1994. The following day his naked body was found in nearby woodland and his clothing – grey trousers, a white shirt, black shoes and a blue coat – were found in a wheelie bin.

 Sally Anne Bowman Sally Anne was an English singer and model who was murdered in the early hours of 25 September 2005 in Croydon, Greater London. Sally who was only 18 at the time of her death, had been robbed, raped and repeatedly stabbed by her killer who had a history of robbery and sexual offences. Her killer was convicted of the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with a recommended minimum of 34 years.

 The Childers Palace Children

The Childers Palace Backpackers Hostel fire on 23 June 2000 killed 15 backpackers: nine

women and six men. The former Palace Hotel in the town of Childers, Queensland, Australia,

had been converted into a backpacker hostel; it was popular amongst backpackers who were

fruit picking in the Childers area.

The fire was started at about 1 am, in the downstairs recreation room. Most of the backpackers

who died were on the second floor of the hostel.

The lone perpetrator who was arrested and charged with arson and two counts of murder was

sentenced to life in prison.

The British victims were: Gary Sutton, 24, of Bath; Mike Lewis, 25, from Bristol; Natalie Morris, 28, from Cefn Coed; Sarah Williams, 23, from Aberfan; Melissa Smith, 26, from Thatcham, Berks; Adam Rowland, 19, from St Leonards, Sussex, and Clare Webb, 24, from Ascot. The three Australian victims included Kelly and Stacey Slarke - 27-year-old identical twins from Western Australia. Two victims were from Holland and one each from Ireland, Japan and South Korea.

 David Stunell David was stabbed to death in front of his mum and sister on 28 July 2007 in Brighton. David’s killer - his sister’s boyfriend - was sentenced to life in 2008, with a recommendation that he serve at least 16 years.
