Founders, trustees, members

and staff

The charity parents of Murdered Children was founded in 1984 by June Patient and Anne Robinson after the tragic murder of June’s daughter and Anne’s son. The name was changed in 1994 to Support After Manslaughter and Murder (SAMM SE) as we felt this more fully reflected our expanded role. Today, SAMM South East has over 350 members who together with their families and friends have all been bereaved as a consequence of murder, manslaughter or unlawful killing.
SAMM SE has no paid staff and no property other than office equipment. Its only assets are some very hard-working members and the financial funds and resources they have generated. What we do have is plenty of good ideas on how we can help, but we do have is a shortage of people to carry them out. So please bear with us if there's a delay in putting your idea into practice or if your letter or phone call goes unanswered for a while. do remember that the person who wants to help may be having a bad day! If you do feel we have let you down or neglected you we won't be offended by a gentle reminder. Please give us a call.. Finally to all of you who have phoned, e-mailed or have made it to one or more of our meetings -thank you for sharing your feelings and your fears - and for understanding those of others.

Ray will be greatly missed by us all but we are delighted that his daughter Sue Martin has taken his place as a trustee, and we also have two new additional trustees; Fiona Napier, a friend of Tessa’s and Geoffrey Pallant, We are also sad that Dorothy Walkling has stepped down as a trustee. Dorothy and her husband Mick, both very lovely people, have assured us that they will attend the meetings when possible and will always be there to help whenever needed. A big thank you to them both.
